Route: Aalborg - Rubjerg Knude Fyr - Skagen - Grenen - Aalborg
Duration: 7 h
Our first stop we will make at the Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse which was built in 1900, and its light was the lit the 27th of December of that year. Between the years of 1910 and 1920, the drifting sands became such a big problem that bushes and trees were planted to help improve the conditions in the area. Despite this effort, the sand dune only grew larger, and the sand started to cover the plants. In the 50's most of the plants were removed again and a lot of sand was removed from the area, as it got to close to the lighthouse buildings. In the end, the sand dunes became so vast it covered the light of the lighthouse, and the light was on for the last time on August 1st 1968. In 1999 the Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse was moved and now you can enjoed nice view from it. Our next stop we will make in Skagen which is a pretty small town located at Jutland's northern tip where the Baltic meets the North Sea, Skagen (pronounced 'skain') lures with its rich art heritage, fresh seafood and photogenic neighbourhoods. Here, museums and art galleries conspire with bike-rental outlets, ice-creameries and harbour-side restaurants to create a bewitching summertime atmosphere adored by countless tourists. In the mid-19th century, artists flocked to Skagen, charmed by the radiant light’s impact on the ruggedly beautiful landscape. Now tourists come in droves, drawn by the area's long sandy beaches and buzzing holiday vibe. Although the town gets packed in summer, it thankfully maintains its charm. This is especially true in Skagen's intimate, older neighbourhoods, where distinctive yellow houses are crowned by red-tiled roofs and framed by white-picket fences. Also we will visit the point called Grenen, where you will see like the where the Baltic Sea meets the North Sea. After free time we will return to Aalborg.
