Our first stop in this tour we will make at Cortona is a town easy to love for everybody indeed. That’s because its atmosphere, its Etruscan past, its lovely medieval city centre and furthermore its great views. Our  walking tour of the historical centre of Cortona will bring you back in time. During the visit you will see the Piazza della Repubblica, the main square dating back to the Roman age, Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, residence of Cardinal Passerini during the 16th century, the Palazzo Comunale, dating back to the 12th century, Palazzo Casali and Teatro Signorelli, which is a typical theatre in Neoclassical style still in use for the local theatre season. The town’s cathedral will be also part of your walking with its charming view. After the sights tour we will visit to the Museum of Diocesano. The Museum is located in Piazza del Duomo, in the former church of Jesus, and collects various objects and works of art from local churches belonging to Diocesano. The art collection has important works by Pietro Lorenzetti, Beato Angelico, Bartolomeo della Gatta, Sassetta and Luca Signorelli, as well as sacred furnishings of great value. The exhibition starts from the ancient object well present, the Roman sarcophagus with the Fighting between Dionysus and the Amazons, dating to the second century A.D. and found myself caught in the Cathedral. The work, discovered in the fifteenth century, was admired by Donatello and Brunelleschi, who traveled specially to Cortona to see it on the advice of his friend. Next we will visit to Arezzo which is mid-sized Tuscan truly beautiful city  and its historic center represents a hidden gem of the Tuscan region. Among the oldest cities in Tuscany, Arezzo has been inhabited since the 8th-7th centuries BC. by the Etruscans and then by the Romans as evidenced by the numerous finds found and preserved in the Archaeological Museum. Its beautiful medieval and Renaissance historical center was immortalized by Roberto Benigni in the famous film “Life is beautiful”.  During the visit you will see the main sites of the historic centre like the Basilica of St. Domenico, the Gothic Cathedral of St. Donato, the scenic Piazza Grande - beautiful frame of the Giostra del Saracino jousting and the known Antique Market - the thousand-year-old Pieve di St. Maria. Next we will visit to Greve in Chianti a small town with a quaint atmosphere and  a treasure trove of art, history and great flavors and  also an active town with many shops and restaurants. Greve's history is connected to the beautiful Castle of Montefioralle located above the town, when it served as the castle's marketplace in the 13th century.  The strategic position at the crossroads of three important pilgrimage roads - the Chiantigiana road, the road to Valdarno and the road to Val di Pesa - favored its economic growth. At the beginning of the 1500s, the curious shaped square was already built and was later described by the Grand Duke Leopold I as "a beautiful square where every Saturday a big market of livestock and foodstuff takes place". Also located on the square is the Palazzo del Comune, the city hall built in neo-Renaissance style on the site of the ancient Renaissance building. In the middle of the square, near city hall, stands the large statue of Giovanni da Verrazzano.  This famous explorer discovered the Hudson Bay in New York and was born just a few kilometers to the north of Greve. On the opposite end of the square from the government building, is the Santa Croce Church with a neo-classic facade. Built on the site of a medieval church, it still displays several masterpieces from churches in the local surroundings. Among the most important works is the 14th century fresco depicting the Virgin Mary with Child and a triptych by Lorenzo di Bicci (from about 1420). Next we will visit to another interesting museum any wine lover should stop at is the Wine Museum. In addition to a wide selection of wines to taste, there are many old farm machines on display, as well as 180 different corkscrews. After wines tasting we will return to Florence.
