Route: Graz - Pollau - Vienna - Graz

Our first stop in this tour will be at Pollau where we will visit to the beautiful St. Veit’s Church which is one you don’t want to miss. It is located within the complex of the former Pollau Abbey. Built in the early 18th century, the church is regarded as the high point of Styrian Baroque. The architecture of the church, particularly its imposing dome, was modeled on the St. Peter’s Basilica and it is affectionately known as the “Styrian St. Peter’s”. The interior of the church is absolutely breathtaking. It seems like every conceivable bit of space along the 62-meter long nave is decorated with frescoes extolling the feats of angels and saints. The dome rises to a height of 42 meters and features trompe l’oeil frescoes celebrating the four Church fathers and the 12 apostles. The gilded altarpiece shouldn’t be missed and features an exquisite painting depicting the martyrdom of St. Veit. Also worth noting is the humongous organ, the largest Baroque organ in Styria. After we will drive to Vienna where after walking city tour you will take a free time for discovering of the city. This tour will introduce you to the most important sights of Vienna and is a definite must for first time visitors to the city. The tour begins with a drive around Vienna’s Ringstrasse, a leafy boulevard around the heart of the city and the location of many impressive buildings, for example the State Opera House, the Hofburg (Imperial Palace), the Museums of Fine Arts and Natural History, the Parliament, the Burgtheater, the City Hall and the University. The tour then continues to Schonbrunn Palace, the magnificent summer residence of the Hapsburg family lived e.g. Maria Teresia. A stop is also made at Belvedere Palace, the former summer residence of Prince Eugen, where the gardens offer a splendid view over the Vienna skyline. Also you will visit to St Stephan’s cathedral, the landmark of Vienna and witness of over 1000 years of history and the bustling Graben shopping street. After free time we will return to Graz.
