Our first stop we will make at the Roman Catholic wooden Church of St Francis of Assisi which is along with seven wooden churches of the Slovak part of Carpathian Mountain Area, it was included on the UNESCO Word Heritage List. The Roman Catholic wooden Church of St Francis of Assisi was built by the end of the 15th century. It is the oldest and best preserved wooden church in Slovakia. The Gothic pictures and wall paintings from 1655 and 1805 are the most valuable parts of its interior. Next we will visit to the historical gem of eastern Slovakia, Bardejov which is today mainly known for its outstanding old town square, and in UNESCO World Heritage site. Historically its real birth originated in a royal plan to revive an area raided by Mongols up to the 13th century. Over the next hundred years, the town was enriched materially by an influx of German colonists invited by the king, and fortified militarily – both of which set the tone for the town’s appearance up to the present.The unspoiled town cobbled square is a picture postcard view of town life in late medieval and early renaissance Europe. The dominant theme is rows of affluent merchants’ houses of German influence, each with its own variations of pastel colouring, roofing and other details. Several churches, the oldest two being some five hundred years old, pay tribute to a variety of architectural styles and periods, from authentic gothic to gothic revival, but for the most part the flavour is 16th- to 18th-century. There are several museums of period artefacts, the most unique of them dedicated to 15th-century icons. Around it all are the formidable town walls, with a number of well-marked descriptions. Next we will reach the Museum of Folk Architecture - Slovakia's oldest open-air museum. It currently consists of almost 30 buildings of traditional folk architecture from the Upper Šariš and north-eastern Zemplín regions. To the architectural dominant - the wooden church from the village Mikulášová-Niklová, another wooden church from Zboj was added. Both Greek-Catholic churches are unique examples of sacral architecture. Apart from houses with stables, also structures with technical equipment- among them blacksmith workshop, fruit drying room, drilling mechanism driven by water and the fulling mill were placed here. Next we will go to the Bardejov Spa which has a long history, with the first record of the spa stretching back to 1247 to the reign of Hungarian king Bela IV. In the 15th century, the spa began to be used for regular treatment. Its good reputation reached as far as courts of prominent European rulers. The services of this "oasis of health and relax" were used by manywell-known historical figures, including Marie Louise, wife of French Emperor Napoleon I., Russian Tzar Alexander I., Empress Elisabeth (also known as Sissi), wife of Francis Joseph I., and other prominent European noblemen. Thanks to its location, microclimate, mineral waters and the natural scenery of the picturesque valley surrounded by woods, the spa has all the conditions to provide appropriate treatment for ailments of the respiratory system, circulation conditions, digestive tract and disorders resulting from both physical and mental fatigue. The biggest treasure of the spa is its natural mineral waters. Their composition ensures their place among the most important mineral waters in Europe. The springs in Bardejov are classified as hydrocarbonic, chloride, sodium, carbonic hypotonic with medium mineralization and relatively rich in boric acid. After free time and relaxing in the spa resort we will return to Kosice.
