Our first short stop will be at the Michalovce which is the economic and cultural centre of the Lower Zemplín. The first written reference to the town is from 1244. The old Michalovce was the seat of the royal estate administered by the settlers of the water sentry castle standing next to the Laborec river on important trade route.The most attractive cultural monument of the town is its manor house. It stands in the middle of the town on the bank of the Laborec river. The manor house now gives shelter to the Museum of Zemplin, which documents the developments of nature, society and arts of the region since the oldest time to the present. Next we will visit to the Vihorlat Museum is housed in a 17th-century Renaissance mansion. The manor house was built on the site of a medieval water castle. Today, it is a national cultural monument and a rare historical landmark of the city center. In the 19th century, a park was built around the mansion, which now houses an exhibition of folk architecture. At present, more than a hundred thousand pieces of collection items are concentrated in the museum's collections. Among the most valuable are the findings of Celtic coins, a mass finding of 17th century coins, unique antique weapons and armor, or Baroque icons. Also we will visit to Open Air Museum where you see the nationality buildings from 17th century. Next we will visit to Herľany where is the famous geyser of Herľany. The geyser of Herľany is a rarity in Europe as there are only eight geysers like this one in the whole world. In the 1870s, an artesian well was drilled here in pursue of another mineral water source for the expanding spa. The 404.5 m deep probe brought up a strong spring of the mineral water. Now the periodicity of emanation is about 32-34 hours. The water springs for about 20-30 minutes to the height of maximum 20 metres. The yield of one eruption is about 600 hl of water.
