One of the most prominent tourist destinations in Lower Austria, the Wachau Valley is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site for its architectural and agricultural history, and it also attracts with its food and wine. You will explore the River Danube as it flows around picturesque villages and steep vineyards. The many ancient castles testify to the former importance of the river as a trade and traffic route. One of these is the ruins of Dürnstein Castle, where, according to legend, Richard the Lionheart was kept imprisoned, and was eventually freed by his faithful minstrel Blondel. Experience a relaxed cruise from Krems to the wonderous wine-town Spitz . Along the way we pass by the worldrenowned blue tower of Dürnstein whilst we please you with a delicious „Wachauer Jause” - a typical regional snack consisting of cold products (ham, cheese, spread) of the Region incl. traditional roll Wachauer Laberl . On request, accompanied by three fine wines from the Wachau (each 1/16 l). Our next stop will be at Aggstein castle where the local guides make every castle tour an exciting experience. The history of Aggstein castle ruin extends back to the 12th century. Some of its past owners played an important role in the Danube region. Many of them used their power for personal enrichment. Their misdeeds and the eventful history of the castle still form part of legends and tales relating to Aggstein today! After cruise we will return to Linz.
