During this tour we will visit to Engelberg which is a holiday destination with a heart: nestling in a wild and romantic mountain valley, the historic resort of Engelberg lies at the foot of the TITLIS. Encircled by imposing peaks and eternal ice, the monastery village is a haven of excite-ment . As a snowsports mecca in the winter and a hiking and excursion paradise in the summer, Engelberg is the perfect destination for lovers of the great outdoors. In Engelberg we will visit to the village’s Benedictine Monastery still has a community of monks and goes back to 1120. The architecture of the church and monastic complex is all late-Baroque.You can go in to view the stuccowork and frescoes on the abbey’s barrel. The abbey’s organ is one of the largest in Switzerland. Also there we will see the only cheese factory in Switzerland within the walls of a monastery, where you can watch cheese being produced by hand. Watch how four large vats of milk get transformed into the famous ‚ Engelberger Klosterglocke’—a mild cheese pressed into the shape of a monastery bell. Thanks to this unique manufacturing process, the local cheese is produced all year round. In the shop’s restaurant you can enjoy a variety of cheese platters, delicious fondues and several tasty desserts. To remind you of your visit, unique souvenirs and regional food specialties can also be purchased here. After that we will go to the Mount Titlis which soars to more than 3,200 to the south of Engelberg. The journeys by gondola and cable car are part of the thrill, and present you with astonishing views. The new Titlis Rotair gondola, which is the first fully rotating gondola in the world, showing off the Uri Alps in all their power.There are panoramic restaurants and other eateries at the top, as well as the Ice Flyer, a chairlift that carries you over the surface of the glacier, where you can peer down into its crevasses. After free time we will return to Engelberg and back to Lucerne.
