Firstly in this excursion we will visit to Swissminiatur is Switzerland’s largest open-air miniature museum. Located in Melide, on the shores of Lake Lugano, the park is surrounded by majestic mountains including Monte Generoso, San Salvatore and also San Giorgio, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Relax and unwind in a tranquil natural setting. There you will see 128 models of Switzerland’s most famous buildings, monuments and means of transport in the unusual 1:25 scale. The miniatures on display include meticulously faithful reproductions of Rapperswil Castle, Chillon Castle and the Castles of Bellinzona, the Parliament Building in Bern and the Piazza Grande in Locarno. Immerse yourself in the world of Swiss railway history in miniature: a 3,560 m miniature railway network winds its way around the park, with eighteen trains running on the tracks. Admire the funicular railways and cableways that travel up and down the mountains, the boats that plough through the lakes and the cars speeding along the motorway. See the planes getting ready to take off from Zurich-Kloten airport! After we will go to Mount Salvatore (912 m a.s.l.) which is a very special, one could almost go as far as saying, legendary mountain. It was born out of an ancient sea, in an environment that was very similar to that of today’s Bahamas archipelago. Its history gets lost in a dim and distant past. “You need to have been up there in person, if you want to get an idea of its greatness and magnificence, and then that moment will become one of the most beautiful and unforgettable experiences in your whole life.”C. From the top of Mount San Salvatore, the views are especially impressive and magnificent, extending 360 degrees. On the top we will go at the railway is 1660 m in length and divided into two sections of 830 m, each of differing gradients. The first section has a gradient of up to 37% and the second section up to 61%. Given these differing gradients, the two carriages have different construction features but both offer the same capacity and travel in opposite directions to and from the middle station, without ever crossing. The carriages travel alongside one another on even track at the Lugano-Pazzallo middle station for approx. 10 metres. After we will back to Lugano.
