During our tour we will visit to two castles and one citadel. Our first stop in our tour will be at a renaissance castle Skarhult which is one of Sweden’s best preserved castles from the renaissance era, and was built under leadership of the chatelaine Mette Rosenkrantz in the 1560’s. Today the ancient buildings are used to tell the tale of what life through history has been like, with a specific focus on the women that lived at Skarhult, ruling the castle while their men were off in war. Take a guided tour and get a tour through the lives of five women from five different centuries, whose aspirations and destinies are retold and displayed up close. The castle also features yearly exhibitions with new and creative takes on history with a gender perspective. Our next visit will be at Trollenäs Castle where you can meet with werewolves and goblins. Originally a castle from the early middle ages, the building was modernized and partly transformed into a renaissance castle in the 17th century. The interior was redone as well, and a guided tour of the magnificently decorated rooms is highly recommended. The tour guide will fill you in on all the historic details and curiosities of this enchanting place and tell you all the legends about great ancestors of the Trolle family, werewolf’s and other mythical inhabitants of Trollenäs. Oh and take the guided tour before heading down for pastries and coffee in the café that is situated in the old brewery in the castle park, just so you can be sure to watch out for a black dog with burning eyes… Our last stop of our tour will be at Landskrona Citadel which we say a prison with bars and dungeons. The Citadel in Landskrona is one of the Nordic region’s best preserved 16th century fortresses, and is Sweden’s only preserved earthwork fortress. It was built in 1549-1559 by the Danish King Christian III as a defence fortification but during the 19th century the Citadel was used as a prison, first for prisoners of war and subsequently for life-term prisoners and vagrants. Until 1940, the Citadel was a women’s prison. There is now a recreation area here with a put and take fishing lake, a museum exhibition, a craft shop and a café.After we will back to Malmo.
