Our first stop in this tour we will make at the Berching  which is a Medieval Jewel traced back to more than 1,100 years ago. It is one the oldest towns in the region and has been deeply influenced by history and tradition. Its impressive medieval townscape is characterized by 4 ancient gates, a fully preserved wall of the 15th century, which rings the oldest part of the town and is partially accessible, and 13 sharp fortified towers. In the centre there are magnificent and colourful middle class houses tidily lined up, half-timbered houses and imposing barns. Today they bear witness to the wealth of this old merchants' town. Wide paved squares, narrow and winding lanes and a streamlet flowing quietly through the centre invite to stroll leisurely through the town. Next we will visit to the Weltenburg Abbey which is situated at the mouth of the romantic Danube Gorge. It was founded in the year 600 by the Iro-Scottish Columban missionary monks Eustasius and Agilus of Luxeuil (Burgundy), and is thus the oldest monastic settlement in Bavaria. The abbey church, built and embellished by the Asam brothers from 1716-1739 under Abbot Maurus Bächl, is considered one of the highest achievements of European baroque. In the year 1803, Weltenburg fell victim to secularization and was disbanded. However, it was re-established as early as 1842 by King Ludwig I of Bavaria as a priory and settled by monks from Metten. The community sees its primary task in parish pastoral counselling (the support of four parishes) and in the welcoming of guests. The St. Georg meeting place serves this task with an accommodation capacity of about 100 people. Also there is the abbey brewery and restaurant provide refreshment for visitors. Next we will reach the city Regensburg where during tour, you will visit the Old Town Center with the 850 year-old Stone Bridge with the historical "Wurstkuchl", the Old Town Hall - the seat of the Perpetual Imperial Diet, the gothic cathedral, the roman gate, Porta Praetoria and the patrician towers of the traders and feel the power and former wealth of Regensburg. If you think that a Medieval city with a 2,000-year-old history and UNESCO World Heritage status might be slightly on the quiet side is greatly mistaken. With the highest concentration of bars in Germany, the people of Regensburg know many ways to have fun. Regensburg has 1,500 listed buildings, 984 of which comprise the UNESCO World Heritage 'Old Town with Stadtamhof' ensemble. After free time we return to Nuremberg.
