Route: Odense - Esbjerg - Cruise to Fano - Nordby - Sonderho - Odense

Our first stop in this tour we will make at the Esbjerg is Denmark's youngest large city. When you arrive in the city, you will be amazed at what has taken place in the space of just 150 years. It all began with a harbour for the exporting of agricultural goods, then the mushrooming fishing industry came, with more than 600 vessels, and now Esbjerg is the country’s energy metropolis. Apart from being a base for oil and gas in the North Sea, the city boast the largest wind turbine park in the world. A pioneer spirit and dynamism continue to fuel this impressive development. From the harbour you can take the new pedestrian accessway, Landgangen, and the walk along the harbour front to the city centre with its great, varied shopping opportunities, a rich café life and eateries to suit every palate. From the city’s landmark down by the water, the huge statue ”Man Meets the Sea”, you can gaze out towards the holiday island of Fanø. Next we will reach the Fano island by ferry. After a 12 minutecrossing arrival in Nordby, the largest town on the island where the environment and the old style architecture takes you back to the 17th century when Fanø was the home port of about 160 sailing ships. The closeness to nature is already felt at the harbour. From the promenade, one can sit and enjoy the many wading birds. Moreover, seals often lie on the small sandbank only 50 metres from the harbour. Town Hall, the Health Centre, the Public Library, the Sports Centre, the Tourist Office and other institutions are located here. From Nordby the tour goes on to Fanø Bad, where you will be able to take a walk along one of Denmark's longest beaches. Hereafter we drive along the beach to the old shipping village of Sønderho, where we will explore the charming village with narrow, crooked streets and visit the church. Both in Nordby and in Sønderho you will find local art crafts and ceramics in antiques and art shops. After some interesting and enjoyful hours on the beautiful island we return to Nordby and take the ferry back to Esbjerg and will return to Odense.
