Route: Poznan - Kornik castle - Rogalin castle - Poznan
Duration: 5 h
Firstly we will visit to the Kornik castle which  dates back to the 15th century. It was then that a manor was built for one of the richest clans od Greater Poland – the Górka family. Its present neo-gothic form, which it’s had since the first half of the 19th century, was designed by Tytus Działyński, who was not only a nobleman, but also a politician and a patron of culture - which may be even more important.  In the castle chambers, said to be visited by the White Lady, sumptuous collection of museum showpieces is gathered. They comprise artworks, furniture, armaments and souvenirs from exotic journeys. Paintings include portraits of erstwhile owners and the valuable objects they once owned are on display – alongside the militaria – in the museum interiors. The library, founded in 1828, is a real rarity. Its collection embraces ca. 400,000 of tomes, including over 30 thousands of old prints and 14 thousands of manuscripts. The picturesque castle walls are surrounded by a park. It is the biggest and oldest arboretum in Poland, its history dating back to the mid-18th century. About 3 thousands species and varieties of trees and shrubs. The oldest among them are the small-leaved limes, reaching 300-years of age. Next we will visit to the Rogalin castle which first recorded in 1247 (as an endowment from Poznań Cathedral) andwhichstriking design was inspired by the Roman temple Maison Carrée in Nîmes, France. It was a knightly manor from the end of the 13th C. Krzysztof Arciszewski, Admiral of the Dutch Fleet, General of the Royal Artillery under King Władysław IV and organiser of the Polish fleet, was born here in 1592. The Rogalin estate changed hands many times during the 17th century and the 1st half of the 18th. It was purchased by Kazimierz Raczyński, the future general governor of Wielkopolska, in 1768. It was he who built the baroque entre cour et jardin palace complex with a palace in the central part, a cour d’honneur in front of it and side annexes. In the palace there are paintings of such famous artists like Monet, Delaroche, Matejko and Wyspianski. In the palace complex there are also a church of St. Marcelin and mausoleum of Raczynski family. The building is surrounded by well-preserved French-style garden in which you will find numerous very old oaks. After we will go back to Poznan.
