Nattjazz Northern Europe’s largest jazz festival with music ranging from trad jazz to World Music. Many internationally renowned artists. During european independent tours or european vacation in Norway in May we recommend visit to Nattjazz festival if you are like jazz music.  Wayne Shorter, one of modern jazz’ most influential composers and saxophone players, is performing at Nattjazz in Bergen for the first time on Friday May 30th. Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Fjorden Baby! and Håkon Kornstad are also confirmed for this years festival. Shorter’s career spans over 50 years, and he’s had a huge impact on jazz music performing with Miles Davis, Weather Report and Joni Mitchell. He turned 80 last year, and released his first album in eight years, “Without a Net”, which was named album of the year by jazz critics from Europe and the US, and also resulted in a Grammy award for Best Improvised Jazz Solo. At Nattjazz Wayne Shorter will perform with the same talented group of musicians he’s toured with for over ten years, featuring Danilo Perez on piano, Brian Blade on drums and John Patitucci on bass. Local heroes, Fjorden Baby!, will close this years festival with a energetic live show on Sturday May 31st. Gonzalo Rubalcaba has through his fusion of afro-cuban music and American jazz created a fresh and contemporary musical register, where impressive technique blends together with melodic finesse. He will play with his trio at Røkeriet on Thursday May 29th.
